State Based Sales Tax

The State Based Sales Tax tab is used to automatically add sales tax to a customer’s order, based on the state the customer’s state.

Note

The Miva admin can only apply a sales tax to an entire state.

Adding a State Sales Tax to Orders

Click the Add State Tax Rate button in the upper right corner.

In the state drop down that appears, select the desired state. Next to that, enter the tax rate to be charged.

If you want the sales tax to be based on the order total plus shipping costs, click the slider under Tax Shipping. If you don’t want to tax shipping, leave the slider unclicked.

When finished, click the Save Changes button.

Now, when a customer places an order from the state you selected, the sales tax rate you created for that state will be automatically applied to the order.
