Discounting Options

These settings let you control what happens when a customer’s order becomes disqualified for a discount because of a return.

For example, let’s say you create a Price Group that offers free shipping for orders of $100 or more. A customer then buys $100 of merchandise and gets free shipping. A few days later the customer returns one of the item. After the return, the order total is then under $100 and it would not qualify for free shipping.

Generally, when a customer wants to return an item, they would call you. While the customer is on the phone, you edit the order and issue an RMA for the item(s). Adjustments to the discount, based on the settings in this section, will show up in the Edit Order screen.

Recalculate Discounts for Returns: This field lets you control when discounts are adjusted as the result of a return.

Order Total Handling: These fields allow you to control how discounts are adjusted as a result of a return.

Upsale and Discounts: These boxes let you set how upsale items are handled as either part of discounts, or as qualifying items for discounts.

Default Exclusion for New Price Groups: This setting lets you set the default exclusion for new price groups.

Upsale Options

Upsale Products to Show: This allows you to control how many upsold products you want to display on the customer’s checkout screen. For example, a customer may meet your display criteria for 10 upsale products, but you can set the Upsale Products to Show variable so they never see more than three upsale products during checkout. You would just set the number at three in this setting.

Max Number of Upsold Products to Select: This allows you to control how many of the upsold products a customer is allowed to purchase. For example, as a “Thank You” you may offer a customer three deeply discounted products at checkout, but only allow the customer to purchase one of them.

Affiliate Options

Activate Affiliate Program: Clicking this checkbox activates the affiliate program for your store and enables the Miva admin to begin tracking affiliates referrals. It also adds the Affiliate Login link to your online store.

Default Application Status: Use this dropdown to set the default status of affiliate accounts that are created in your online store.

Default Commission Per Referral (hit): This gives the affiliate a commission when a customer clicks on the link to your store. No purchase is required for the affiliate to get the commission.

Default Commission Percent of Order: The affiliate’s commission is a percentage of the customer’s order total.

Default Commission Flat Fee Per Order: The affiliate’s commission is a flat fee for every customer referral that results in a purchase. The size of the purchase doesn’t matter.

Payout Threshold: The payout threshold is how you tell the Miva admin that you will pay your affiliates once they’ve earned a certain amount of money.

Minimum Password Length: This fields allows you to set the minimum password length for your affiliates to use.

Password Complexity: These fields allow you to set the complexity requirement for your affiliate’s passwords.

Password Reset Style: This drop down tells the Miva admin how you want the system to handle password reset requests.

Password Reset Link Expiration: This establishes the number of minutes before a password reset link expires. If an affiliate does not use the reset link before it expires they will have to request another.

Affiliate Link

The referring link that affiliates add to their website can either appear as a text hyperlink, or as an image that customers can click to reach your store.

Link Image: To use an image, you can either paste a path to an image already on your server in the text box, or click the Upload button to copy an image from your local computer to the server.

Link Text: If the affiliate just wants to use text for a link from their website, that text can be entered here.

Terms: Use the Terms text box to document how your affiliate program works. Affiliates can see the terms when they create an affiliate account or log into an existing affiliate account.

Affiliate Lost Password Email

Your affiliates can log into their accounts through your online store, mainly to check their commission status. If an affiliate forgets their log in, they can click on the Affiliate Login link on your store. The Miva admin then generates an email and sends it to the affiliate based on the settings below.

Subject: This is what will appear in the subject line of the email sent to the affiliate.
