Finally, select Buy X Get Y in the type field.

In the Apply To field, select which products the discount applies to. The choices are:

Note

Eligible Products are products that:

- Is in the customer's basket

- Also appears in the discounted products list for this particular Price Group

- Are "eligible" for a discount.

In many cases, Miva will apply the discount to an item in the customer’s basket that is also on the list of Discounted Products. However, there are cases where a product in the customer’s basket is on the Discounted Products list, but isn’t eligible for a discount. A limiting Priority, for example, could create that scenario.

Example: Apply to - Same Product - You want to run a “Buy One, Get One Free” promotion. You put two products on your Discounted Products list – a Hawaiian shirt and a Hawaiian hat.

Example: Apply to - Same Product Variant - You want to run a “Buy One, Get One Free” promotion. Among the Discounted Products is a Hawaiian shirt.

The Buy field determines how many products on the Discounted Products list a customer has to buy before they qualify for the discount. If you set Buy to “O,” the customer will get a discount on the first product that they buy. If they set Buy to “1,” the customer will pay full price on the first product and get the discount on the second product.

The Get field determines how many items will be discounted and the Discount field sets the discount amount, either a percentage or a fixed dollar amount.

In the screenshot above, if a customer buys one or more qualifying products, they will also get one discounted product for free. For example, if the customer chooses the Hawaiian hat from the Discounted Products list, the customer will pay full price for the first hat, they would get a second hat for free. If they were to buy a third hat they would pay full price.

In the screenshot above, if a customer buys one or more qualifying products, they will also get up to two discounted products at 50% off. For example, if the customer chooses the Hawaiian hat from the Discounted Products list, they customer would pay full price for the first hat, half price for the second hat and half price for a third hat. If they were to buy a fourth hat they would pay full price.

The Apply Discount To field lets you choose how the discount will be applied in cases where there is more than one item in a customer’s basket that qualifies for a discount. The discount can be applied to the higher priced item, or the lower priced item.

The Maximum Discount Quantity field is where you decide the maximum number of items that you will allow to be discounted by this price group, per order.

Example: Let’s say we have created a Buy 1, Get 1 Free Price Group – if the customer buys one item on the Discounted Products list, they will get a second item free.

Note

If you set the Maximum Discount Quantity to “0,” the Buy 1, Get 1 Free offer would be applied an unlimited number of times to the same basket.
