Content Sections are similar to banners in that they are a tool that makes it easy for less code savvy users to update text and page content in different areas of the store. The main difference is that banners tend to be quick secondary messages you want to promote, whereas contents sections pertain to major pieces of primary content on your store pages. Here we are in the Contents sections tab inside the ReadyTheme area of this test store. Once again we have the Iron and Wool ReadyTheme installed and this particular ReadyTheme comes with 5 content sections pre-configured.
Let's have a look at the first two content sections. Here we have a content section called Footer About Us and another content section called About Us Content. If we have a look at the storefront page, we will see the footer About Us section down here and if we click into the About Us page, we'll see the About Us content loaded on the screen. In both examples, these content sections are populated with placeholder text in latin. Let's replace the place order text with text of our own. Back in the Contents section tab, let's double click into the About Us content. A modal will pop up with the contents section details here. You'll find a field called Content that make up this contents section. Let's go ahead and clear out the content and paste in some custom content of our own. Finally, let's click “Save” to save our work.
When we go back to the About Us page and hit “Refresh,” we'll see that the placeholder text has gone away and it's been replaced with our custom About Us copy. Next, let's scroll down to the footer. Where the footer About Us contents section is we’ll want to replace this text as well. Back in the Admin let's double click into the footer About Us contents section and delete the placeholder text found. In here we’ll replace it with a paragraph of our own and then click “Save.” Now, when we go back to the store page and hit “Refresh” again. We see the placeholder text has been replaced with our custom About Us copy.
