Miva Merchant has the ability to offer your customers real-time shipping rates provided by shipping services like UPS, USPS, or FedEx. Real-time rates are calculated using a number of factors such as the total weight of the order, the current going rate for fuel and any discount rates your account may have with the Courier. Note, that because the total order weight factors into calculating these live shipping rates, you need to ensure that all products in your store have a weight value assigned to them. Aside from showing customers real-time shipping rates at the time of checkout, setting up your Miva store to use UPS, USPS or FedEx also enables you to generate tracking numbers, shipping labels and your customers will be able to track their packages from your website as well.
In this video we're configuring UPS. We’re in the shipping settings area of the Miva Merchant Admin. Currently we're looking at the Add/Remove Modules tab. Here we're looking for the UPS Online Tools Module. When you find it, click on its Install button. The store will install the UPS Online Tools tab in your Shipping Settings and to configure this module just click on this link. You'll need to punch in some required information. If you have a UPS account number you can enter it at this time. When you're done with the form, go ahead and click the “Next” button. If you didn't enter a UPS account number in the previous page, it will ask for one here. If you don't have a UPS account number at this time we recommend checking this box below and a UPS representative will contact you to help you get set up with a UPS account number. I have my UPS account number here, so I'll enter it now. Once you're done with the Configuration Wizard you can close this window. Here, you're presented with a list of different settings for the UPS Shipping Module. If you look down here you can see all of the available shipping options that UPS offers. If you see any Shipping Options on this list, you don't want to off your customer, just make sure you uncheck their box and when you're done selecting the shipping options you want click on the update to save your work.
Now, when a customer precedes through check out, they'll be presented with a list of shipping options powered by the UPS module. In the Admin you can process the shipment for an order in the order processing area of your store. Just select the products that you wish to ship and click on the Create Shipment button. If you use an outside solution to generate your tracking numbers, you can associate that tracking number to this order by clicking on the Enter Tracking Numbers button and if you're using the UPS Module inside of Miva to generate your tracking number, just click on Generate Shipping Label here. Review the details of this shipment and then click on this “Generate” button. You now have a shipping label for this order that you can view and print by clicking on this link.
