MMT has two settings, set once for your user account with mmt config:
| Setting | Used when | MMT runs |
|---|---|---|
editor |
You run mmt push without -n |
<editor command> <notes file> |
diff |
You run mmt diff |
<diff command> <server copy> <your file> |
Each setting is a command plus its options. Put -- after the setting name so options such as --wait go to the command, not to MMT.
Editor for commit notes#
The editor has to stay open until you close the file, then exit without an error. MMT reads the file after it closes.
| Editor | Setting |
|---|---|
| VS Code | mmt config set editor -- code --wait |
| Sublime Text | mmt config set editor -- subl --wait |
| Vim | mmt config set editor vim |
| Nano | mmt config set editor nano |
| Notepad (Windows) | mmt config set editor notepad |
MMT opens a file listing the files you’re pushing and the checkout’s tags, on lines starting with #. Write your notes above them. Lines starting with # are ignored, and the remaining lines are joined into one line. Saving an empty file cancels the push.
Diff tool#
| Tool | Setting |
|---|---|
| VS Code | mmt config set diff -- code --diff --wait |
| Meld | mmt config set diff meld |
diff (terminal) |
mmt config set diff -- diff -u |
mmt diff runs the tool once per changed file. The server copy is the version from the changeset you last checked out or pulled.
